Hi My lovelies,
So you may have noticed it’s been over a week since my last post – not something I usually do! Did you guys miss me?
Anyway, this post is so super late because I have had zero time to blog over the past week at all: I went away for the weekend on friday morning, got back late sunday night and then had a really important exam on wednesday morning. All that, coupled with the whole Brexit thing (I won’t get into that here, if you follow me on twitter I’ve voiced my opinions pretty strongly) has meant for the most busy week ever! But we’re here and I’m back with a brand new blog post.
I find it really hard to pack when I’m travelling, as I like the luxury of having loads of stuff to pick from when I’m at home, and makeup for me is especially hard to whittle down into just the essentials that I ‘need’ while I’m away. That being said, I probably did still take a lot of product with me, even though I was only away for just 3 days! I thought I’d use this post to show you what I brought with me!
My travel makeup bag:
How adorable is this Alice In Wonderland makeup bag from Primark? I picked this up a few weeks ago while I was browsing and it’s just the cutest thing ever! I’m a massive Alice In Wonderland lover (It’s my favourite thing ever) and I knew I needed this as soon as I saw it. Also, I can justify buying yet another makeup bag because it was only £4! Bargain!
What I took with me:
For my base products I took:
- Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer
- Clinique Blended Face Powder in Transparency 2
- Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 01 Fair
- Mini Benefit Dandelion Blush
- Sleek Solstice Highlight Palette
- NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray
This is the main part of my makeup look, and as I was away at a convention and knew there would be some sort of flash photography going on, I made sure my foundation had no SPF in it, and took a powder with a little colour in to minimise any flashback. The NYX finishing spray is a new fave of mine lately, it stops me getting as oily during the day so it’s such a godsend. As for blush, It was so hard to whittle it down and I ended up picking this one as 1) it’s teeny so easy to travel with and 2) the shade pretty much goes with anything. The concealer is my fave ever, and it only costs £4! And for highlight, I reached for this little gem of a palette straight away!
For eyes/brows:
- Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Palette
- Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Liner in Black
- Clinique Quickliner For Eyes Intense in Intense Chocolate
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero
- NYX Micro Brow Pencil in 04 Chocolate
- ModelCo More Brows in medium/dark
- No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara
Was this a little over the top? Maybe, but there were parties at night and I needed my eyeliners, okay? I chose the Alice Palette because it’s super adaptable, almost any eye look I could ever want I can create with this palette. The only downside is that it takes up quite a bit of space because of the bulky packaging, but I still love it! 3 eyeliners, one black, one brown, one liquid because who know’s what I’m going to want my liner to say that day? The brow products I do my eyebrows with every single day so that’s a no brainer, and I’m really loving this N07 mascara lately so that had to go too!
And for lips (I went a little overboard here):
- Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Mannequin
- GOSH Copenhagen Matte Lipstick in Matt Rose
- NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu
- Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Lipstick in Mirana
- ModelCo Lipstick in Smitten
I need choices when it comes to lips, and I’d say if someone asked me what I have the most of, it’s definitely lip products so I found this the hardest to choose! I decided for a nude (mannequin), a pink (matt rose), a glossy shade that could go over either matte lip for a different look (Tiramisu – BTW it smells like cake batter and I need all of these glosses now), a bold dark shade (Mirana), and a classic red (Smitten). These could take me through so many different makeup looks, and I’m super happy they all fit in!
Finally, for Brushes/Tools:
- Morphe Travel Brush Set
- Original Beauty Blender
- Morphe M510 for highlight
- Smashbox art.love.color Crease brush
I found what is probably the cutest travel brush set ever from Morphe in this seven piece wonder. The brushes are really compact and come in a little folio so I can pack them so easily and I’m so grateful I bought them! They don’t come with everything though, so I brought my beauty blender for foundation and concealer, my Morphe 510 for highlight, and the crease brush in the set is a little small for me, so I brought my smashbox one. That being said, It was a great one for detailing and highlighting my inner corner!
As you can probably see, 5 lipsticks and 3 eyeliners does not make me much of a light packer, but I can never choose what I want! I need the plethora of makeup my dressing table offers me every morning, or else I’m in a shambles! Obviously, I’m not going to be any use when it comes to me actually going on holiday in January, but I made an effort not to take everything I own!
Onto my weekend away! How’s this for a bit of nostalgia? I was away at a convention for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel over the friday, saturday and sunday last week. As you may know, I’m a massive nerd and fell in love with this show way back when my mum brought home the VHS tapes and we used to watch an episode of Buffy before ER on a thursday night! At the weekend, we got to go and meet some of the actors, go to panels and get autographs and photos with them! I’m proud to say I had a photo taken with Giles (a.k.a. Anthony Head), and it was just the best weekend all around! Gourmet Burger Kitchen skinny fries are lush, btw.
What do you guys think? Are you like me and cannot pack light, especially when it comes to makeup? What would you take on a weekend away? Most importantly, do any of you guys love Buffy too because I think we will be the best of friends if you do!
