Natural (ish) makeup tutorial!

Hi my lovelies!

Natural and nude makeup looks are bang on trend at the moment, so I’ve decided that this post is going to a a tutorial of sorts for that sought after no-makeup makeup look!

STEP 1: Base

First I used my Clinique superprimer with redness correction to prime my face, and then applied foundation. In this case it was Clinique beyond perfecting 2-in-1 foundation and concealer. I then used the same product to conceal under my eyes.

150 blog followers! Thank you guys so much!

Hi my lovelies!

So today I was writing a new blog post, and looked at my stats and realised there are 150 (well 151) of you lovely people following my blog now, which is insane! I’m writing this post just for all of you because I’m so wowed and thankful for all of you reading and liking my little blog.

I started this blog just before Christmas as a way to unwind and share something I’m passionate about in my spare time, and it’s blossomed into something that I really enjoy doing whenever I get the chance. It’s a brilliant way for me to take what I’m thinking and feeling and putting it into something really postitive, and every single view, like and comment on my posts mean so much to me, so thank you all.

I’m really grateful to all of you who have followed, commented on and read my posts, and I’ve loved reading a lot of your posts and getting to know you a little bit too.

Hopefully I can continue with my blog for a long time to come, and maybe make some great friends through this platform. If you guys ever need anything from me, I’m so happy to talk to you in the comments or over on twitter if you’d like to.

Thank you all again for starting out on this wonderful journey so far with me, and I’m looking forward to what the future has in store for me and my little blog!

(P.S.) Check out my last Instagram post for a sneak peek at a post coming verrrry soon from me!

Birchbox Uk March 2016:”Word Up” Unboxing and review!

Hi my lovelies!

So this post is a little belated, as I actually received my Birchbox pretty early this month, I just haven’t had much time to sit and blog about it! As this is a little later than planned, I can tell you the final verdicts on the items in my box this month in this post, which is a plus!

The theme this month was “Word Up”, and it was all about searching for (and finding!) your ultimate beauty discovery. The reason I got Birchbox in the first place was to find new brands and products I would love, so this was a great theme for me! This month’s box is pretty cute, with a wordsearch to do on the front of the box, too!

For all you lovelies who don’t know about Birchbox, it’s a beauty subscription service that sends around 5 beauty products (including makeup, skincare and haircare) to your door each month. Sometimes there is also a beauty bonus included, such as January’s #nofilter compact mirror! It costs £10 plus £2.95 postage, and in my opinion is well worth it so far!

Let’s get on with telling you all about March’s box, shall we? If you saw my Sneak Peek post, you’ll have been able to see some of the items I could have got and that others will have received in their boxes, too.

The Lust List: March 2016

Hi my lovelies!

So this is a brand new segment I’m thinking about doing for the blog every month if you guys like it and I get the chance! You may have also noticed that I changed my blog header, and my image font is slightly different – what do you think? It looks a little better, yeah?

I’ve decided to call it The Lust List, (if you follow me on twitter you might have seen me tweeting with hashtag #lustlist before), and It’s going to be about all of the things I’ve been lusting over or seriously wanting to buy over the last few weeks (or months!). Many a time I’ve been told ‘Jess, why don’t you stop talking and talking about the thing and just go and get it!’, so I wanted to share things I’ve really been wanting lately with you all!

Some of these are items to buy, or style inspirations, or maybe even just something I saw when browsing Instagram and really loved! Let me know if this style of post is something you like, because if you want to see more of these every month, I’ll continue writing them!

Look Incredible Beauty Box March 2016 – Unboxing and review!

Hi my lovelies!

It’s the beginning of the month again and that means another month of beauty boxes!

This is also my 50th post as a blogger and I feel like i’ve reached an important milestone! Thanks to all you guys for being here with me so far!

I got my first Look Incredible box last month (see my unboxing post HERE and the video HERE ) and it’s safe to say it was well worth the money I paid for it! Everything bar one item in the box was really great and i’ll get a lot of use out of them in the future! So when March’s box was waiting at home for me after a verrrrry long saturday of being out the entire day ( I was out at 8am and only back home at 11pm) I was very tired but also really excited to open it up!

01

For those of you who don’t know about Look Incredible, it’s a monthly beauty subscription service that for £18.99 (now plus £2.50 postage), promises to deliver you five full sized beauty products every month. They’ve had the likes of Tarte, Bare Minerals, and Nars in previous boxes, and are pretty makeup heavy instead of more skincare items, so If you like to find new makeup products, this is a fab one to try out!

In my opinion, March’s box contains items that I will most definitely use again and again, and include 4 brands I’m familiar with (including more Nars!), and one that i’m not, much like last month!

Review: Clinique Chubby Stick Highlight! Get that glow!

Hi my lovelies,

So I promised when I bought this highlighter (around 4 weeks ago now, oops!) that I’d definitely do a review of it, so here we are! I bought one of the Clinique Chubby Stick highlighters when I was last in Manchester (see my Manchester haul here!), and I’ve now had the opportunity to fully test it out, so here are the results!

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know by now that I’m a huuuuge fan of Clinique as a brand, both their skincare and makeup is generally really good, so I was pretty excited to try this! Getting that fresh faced, luminous glow is really in right now, and while I normally go for a powder highlighter, I needed to see what Clinique had to offer me and the sales girl said I should try this!
image

Clinique’s Chubby Stick highlight is a cream based, pink toned highlighter stick. There’s only one shade at the moment, which is 01 Hefty Highlight, so hopefully they’ll bring out more. The packaging looks like Clinique’s other lip, eye and cheek chubby sticks, with silver accents and the colour of the product on the main part of the stick, which I really like. It means if you have multiple colours of the same item, they’re easy to separate!

Ease of use

In my opinion, it’s super easy to use as it’s in a flat (ish) ended stick form, you can literally just draw it on where you want the highlight, and then blend out as much as you want to. I like the fact that the product twists up from the bottom too, like Clinique’s other chubby stick products.

Blendability and Texture

I absolutely adore the way this blends out on my skin. You can put just a little on and it blends out so well, as it’s a cream highlighter, to get as much or as little glow as you want to have! Depending on how much product you apply, and how much you blend it out, you can get anything from a really gentle satin glow, to full on glowing goddess shimmer, which you might not be able to do with a powder highlighter. The texture is really creamy when applying, but be careful not to apply too much product, as it can feel a little chalky later on in the day if you have a lot on.

Colour/Glow payoff

image

This highlighter is really pretty and pink toned, which works really well for me, as I’m quite pale. When applied, it looks pretty and natural with the tiniest bit of glitter that really catches the light. I’m a bit disappointed with Clinique for only releasing one highlight colour and one contour colour, as they obviously aren’t going to suit all skin tones. That being said, if you do have a darker skin tone, you can blend this down into a really iridescent shimmer, with more of a natural glow than a pinky colour. For me though, it suits pretty well. I’m really happy with the buildability of this, as you can be really subtle or go all out with as much or as little product as you like.

Longevity

image

These are a cream formula, so they’re built to last. My normal face makeup routine is Primer (if i can be bothered and/or have time) Foundation, Concealer, Setting Powder (if i’m out all day) blush and then i’ll highlight. I’m a little pale and my face is a tad round for contour, so I only do that on a special occasion. If I use my primer and setting powder, this lasts absolutely ages! I can go out in the morning, do a full day of work, and come home and still have that radiant glow from this highlighter! Using primer and some sort of setting agent helps a lot with longevity, but I tried this with just foundation and it still lasted a long time. Also, being a cream highlighter, there won’t be any fallout that you can sometimes get with powder formulations.

Value for money

The Chubby Stick highlight (and the contour) stick cost £19 each online or at any Clinique counter. For the money, you get such a lot of product that is definitely going to last you a long time, even if you use it on a regular basis. Because you only need to use a little and blend with your fingers to get a stunning natural glow, you’ll use less product, too!

What’s the verdict?

I really like this highlighter, the pink tone suits me as a colour and I love the formulation! I don’t think I’ve  loved a highlighter more than this one, although I’m still wanting to try the Becca shimmering skin perfector, and the TheBalm Cindy-Lou Manizer as they’ve had really good reviews!

Would I repurchase?

Yes, definitely. Although it may be a looooooong timer before I run out of this one!

Overall rating: 5/5 for the actual product, 1/5 for colour choices.

So that was my review of the Clinique Chubby Stick Highlight stick! Have any of you lovely people tried this and/or the contour stick? What did you think? Are there any other highlighters that you’d most definitely recommend? Let me know in the comments!

Interested in trying this? You can check it out on the Clinique website, or any department store with a Clinique counter. Go on, have a swatch, and see what you think of it, too!

Give this post a like and a share if you enjoyed it! Your comments are important to me so let me know if there is anything you’d like to see from me in the future and I will most definitely have a look!

Birchbox UK March 2016 – Sneak Peek!

Hi my lovelies,

Can you believe it’s March already? Me neither!

If you’ve been reading my blog for a little while, you’ll know I’ve been getting Birchbox for a few months, and really liking it (mostly) so far!

For those of you who don’t know about Birchbox, it’s a beauty subscription service that sends around 5 beauty products (including makeup, skincare and haircare) to your door each month. Sometimes there is also a beauty bonus included, such as January’s #nofilter compact mirror! It costs £10 plus £2.95 postage, and in my opinion is well worth it so far as I’ve found products that I really love (Spectrum makeup brushes, anybody?)!

Birchbox also now ships to Ireland, so all you Irish lovelies can now get your hands on this little box of wonders too!

Find out more about Birchbox here! || Sign up here!

March’s Birchbox theme is ‘Word Up!’ and promises to help you search for your ultimate beauty discovery! I’m assuming that means showing us brand new products that we haven’t used before, which I’m always up for. Looking at the photo, the box seems cute and wordsearch themed, with the whole “finding new beauty” a really integrated theme!
