Birchbox December 2016 Unboxing – My Last Box & Why I’m Cancelling! (Blogmas, day 14)

Hi My lovelies,

Today’s post is all about my final Birchbox of the year, and my last box for the time being! I’m cancelling after December’s box,  think new year, new start kind of thing. After getting Birchbox for a full year, I’ve come to the realisation that I’m never 100% impressed with the box, or there’s some sort of mistake or error, or there are products in there which are completely unsuitable for me. So I’m starting off January without my Birchbox subscription! Regardless, December’s box is actually pretty good and almost made me reconsider my decision to quit for now (apart from a problem I’ll address below), so let’s see what was inside!

This month is Christmas themed, and Birchbox always bring out the best at this time of year which is why I’ve stuck it out for this box. The box is a strange design this month, pretty plain but opens up like a storage box, which could be handy to keep pens or makeup brushes in (although I like the drawer style boxes better!)

Birchbox December 2016 – Sneak Peek! (Blogmas, day 2!)

Hi my lovelies,

Welcome back to my second day of Blogmas! I’m super excited to be sharing all of these posts with you, and for day 2 I’m sharing my monthly Birchbox preview post! Not the most Christmassy post, I know – but I do a preview post every month, so I’m not about to not write one for December!

Check out all my Blogmas Posts so far Here!

blgmas2

I’ve been getting Birchbox since last December, and at least for now this will be my last box (I’ll go into more detail in my unboxing post) – so I’m super happy to say it looks like a really great one this month!

December’s theme is Merry & Bright and is all about ending the year in style and feeling super festive!! I love the Christmas theme and as an extra treat, everyone is getting at least two makeup products in their box this month – seriously exciting! The box this month is a completely different format than usual and looks kiiiinda like a cigarette box to me – anyone else? Regardless, it’s pretty, and can be used to store makeup brushes, pens, pencil style makeup products, chopsticks or anything you like after it’s done with which I think is pretty cool.

For those of you who don’t know about Birchbox, it’s a beauty subscription service that sends around 5 beauty products (including makeup, skincare and haircare) to your door each month. Sometimes there is also a beauty bonus included, such as January’s #nofilter compact mirror! It costs £10 plus £2.95 postage, and in my opinion is well worth it so far as I’ve found products that I really love (Spectrum makeup brushes, anybody?)!

Birchbox also now ships to Ireland, so all you Irish lovelies can now get your hands on this little box of wonders too!

Birchbox X Tatler November 2016 – Shake Your Tail Feather!

Hi my lovelies,

So November’s Birchbox is somewhat of a milestone for me – this is my twelfth box, meaning as of November I’ve been subscribed to Birchbox for a full year! I’ve really taken the time lately to consider where I’m at product wise, as well as financially, and I’m both happy and sad to say that December’s box (next month) will likely be my last, at least for now. I’ve achieved my goal of finding new products and new brands that work for me in these last 12 months, and I definitely have some new faves thanks to Birchbox.

20161107_231011

This month, Birchbox has teamed up with Tatler magazine to pick out some fab products, and I do believe this is one of the best all around boxes I’ve had so far (although one of the makeup items is not the best for me). The box is gorgeous, and really matches in with the teal and white decor in my bedroom, so I’m going to use it to keep knick knacks and samples in. Tatler isn’t really a magazine I go for (I’m a dedicated Elle reader), but they’ve definitely done great on the product front!

Last month my box was really hit and miss, with some hero products (Oribe, represent!) and some duds, so I’m really pleased with the products I received this month as there only seems to be one “miss” in here.

Birchbox November 2016 – Sneak Peek!

Hi My lovelies,

First off, I want to say sorry (again, I can’t help it, I’m English) for being less active lately. I’m still incredibly busy and have little to no time to blog, even though I have so many post ideas floating around my head! I work full time, and I have my final end of course project (it’s taken three years to get here, but hopefully I’m almost done) taking up what little time I normally use to write up my blog posts. That being said, it wouldn’t be the first of the month without my Birchbox preview post, would it?? I’m definitely going to try and be more present, and I’m going to attempt blogmas this year – 25 posts in the first 25 days of December – do you guys think I can do it?! Anyway, onto the box!

November’s box (November already, wow!) theme is Shake Your Tail Feather, and the box is adorably peacock designed! It’s curated this month by Tatler magazine, which if I’m honest is a little too middle class for me to read, but they have definitely put together an amazing line up for the boxes this month. Non subscribers, this may be your month to join, as I am super excited for my November box to arrive. I’m still debating on whether to cancel my boxes after Christmas, depending on finances and enjoyment factors (possibly in favour of Love Me Beauty), but I’m definitely looking forward for this one!!

Birchbox October 2016 – What’s Your Sign?

Hi my lovelies,

Today’s (rather belated, sorry!) post is all about my Birchbox for October. I don’t know whether it’s just me, but I’m become a little disappointed with my Birchboxes lately and I’m considering cancelling my subscription soon. It’s only £13 every month including postage, but I’m not sure I’m enjoying it as much as I used to – does anyone else feel like this?

First off, I want to apologise for not blogging or even being around for the last couple of weeks. Do you ever have those times where everything catches up with you all at once, and you feel like you don’t even have time to sleep and eat, let alone have spare time to do things you enjoy? That, plus work stress and a few days of not being very well at all, and you end up with two weeks without a blog post. So I’m sorry for not being here, and to those interested in collab-ing with me on a post, I swear I haven’t forgotten about you! I’ll be emailing as soonas I get the chance!

20161017_180211

Anyway, October’s box design is gorgeous, and the drawer style box seems to be sticking, which is great! I’m a Sagittarius, meaning I got the Fire sign style box this month; and while I don’t really hold any belief in psychics or starsigns, I am a pretty fiery person – so  think it does reflect me. The little stars on the box are actually glow in the dark too, which I love but I reckon those who need complete darkness to sleep won’t be too happy!

Last month’s box was pretty good -I loved (and I mean loved) the Nuxe shower oil and the Bioderma moisturiser, but I have little good things to say about the  Batiste volume spray (really, really not good for my hair!). October is a bit of a mixed bag – I actually squealed at one of the products in here, but was ridiculously disappointed with a couple others. Let’s see what was In my box, shall we?

Birchbox October 2016 – Sneak Peek!

Hi my lovelies,

I normally start these posts with “Can you believe it’s X month already” but we all know this year has gone by so so fast! We’re back with another sneak peek of this month’s Birchbox, and it looks like another pretty good one for October!

14449883_1109286212454543_8011010838929118926_n

October’s box is celebrating star signs, and comes complete with another drawer style box (yay!) that reflects the element of your star sign and glows in the dark!. I’m a Sagittarius so I should get the Fire box – a trait that I’m super happy about! It won’t match my decor, but I love the look of the boxes this month! Birchbox is promising to send us beauty that matches our star signs this month (whatever that means?) plus a full size makeup item for October!

Birchbox September 2016 – “Heroes” Unboxing and First Impressions!

Hi my lovelies,

It’s time for another unboxing of my latest Birchbox! September’s theme is Heroes, and this month Birchbox are helping us celebrate our beauty heroes and find new ones. The drawer style box is back, which I’m super happy about, and I am loving the geometric pastel design for September (Even though my box looks like the delivery person tried and failed to shove it through our letterbox before leaving it with a neighbour).

20160907_182334

Last month’s box wasn’t the best and there were only a couple of things in there (the perfume and the serum) that I was really loving. The dry shampoo I liked, but absolutely hated the scent which puts me off buying it. I’m really considering purchasing  the cute little travel rollerball version as I really like the scent! So September’s box has a lot to do to impress me!

Birchbox September 2016 – Sneak Peek!

Hi my lovelies,

Can you believe September is here already! We’re heading towards autumn now, and as the days get darker and the nights get colder, we definitely need that little bit of luxury to pep us up! Step in Birchbox! Last month’s offering wasn’t the best ever, as I only really liked around half the products in my box for August, and the bag was disappointing. I’m hoping for great things in September though!

14199333_1086106648105833_3419088940778700363_n

I’m not sure that September’s box has a theme, but this month Birchbox is back with the drawer style box, which I’m super happy with – it makes storing things in there so much easier! The box looks super cute too, with pretty geometric pastels that I will definitely keep using (it would make a perfect place to store my face masks, I think!).

Birchbox August 2016 -“Dive In!” Unboxing and First Impressions!

Hi my lovelies,

We all know I was super happy with last month’s Birchbox, which was great timing as I was debating whether to cancel my subscription. This month’s box is not as great as that one, but there’s a couple of products in here that I’m excited to receive – let’s get into it and look at what I got for August, shall we?

13680688_1062534800463018_268271223828592800_n

August’s theme is Dive In! and features summer (and beach) ready products and comes in a super convenient scuba Birchbag (yes, bag!) this month. The bag is waterproof and a lovely little size for all those beauty essentials (lipstick, powder, hand cream) that I keep in my handbag on a daily basis! The downside – it doesn’t seem like great quality which is disappointing, and the colour is just not my cup of tea at all. It’s sort of that “used to be white but I’ve put it through the wash a few too many times” grey colour that looks weirdly dirty, with a bright highlighter yellow zipper (I’m not mad at that – why couldn’t the whole bag have just been yellow?)

Birchbox August 2016 – Sneak Peek!

Hi my lovelies,

It’s the beginning of yet another month (August already!) and we all know what that means: another sneaky peek into this month’s Birchbox! I was super impressed with last month’s box so August’s offering is going to have to be amazing to beat July’s box!

13680688_1062534800463018_268271223828592800_n

This month’s theme is Dive In! and comes in a special Birch(bag) for August. This bag is waterproof and has accents of bright summery shades – perfect for that day at the beach! As a matter of fact, the whole theme this month seems to be about being beach ready, with waterproof makeup and products for soft, radiant skin and hair!
